Neighborhood Watch Program

  • Established more than 715 new Neighborhood Watch groups countywide in the Miami-Dade Police districts, including municipalities such as City of Miami-Upper Eastside, Cutler Bay, Sweetwater, Palmetto Bay, Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Doral, Opa Locka, Biscayne Park, North Miami, Aventura, North Bay Village and Town of Miami Lakes, as well as revitalizing 325 old groups. These new groups and revitalized groups brought a total of 56,000 residents, and distribution more than 135,000 pieces of crime prevention literature

  • Received more than 2,772 ''calls for service'' requesting various types of information including joint programs with other agencies, 415 statewide ''requests for information'' and 385 calls from across the country on how to implement Neighborhood Watch in multicultural (Hispanic and Haitian) communities. Additionally there were over 1,700 inquires through our newly designed web site www.citizenscrimewatch.com from around the country, South America, England, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Philippines, France, Columbia, Argentina. Visitors to our web site averaged 2,000 hits a month.
  • Coordinated 19 Senior Crime Prevention programs reaching over 845 seniors and 32 Business Crime Watch meetings.
  • Participated in countywide events such as bicycle rodeos, safety fairs, health fairs, Miami-Dade Police Majors’ Night Out events, Miami-Dade Police Districts Open House, Celebrate Safe Communities, Halloween Safety Event, Stop the Violence Seminars, Florida Attorney General ''Preventing Crime in the Black Community,'' County Commission Chairman Joe Martinez's Hurricane Safety Event, Participated with Commissioners Audrey Edmonson, Sally Heyman, Rebeca Sosa, Jose Pepe Diaz, Dennis Moss, Dorrin Rolle with their Safety events, CCW also joined forces with Miami-Dade Citizens Corp. and participated in their Safety Events.
  • CCW was selected by the National Crime Prevention Council as a partner for the newly organized National Crime Prevention Association where our executive director sits as an executive board member.
  • CCW was also placed as a member of the Miami-Dade HUD Crime Reduction Unit, implementing and training residents in crime prevention techniques and implementing crime watch in all the HUD Housing Programs.

Youth Crime Watch of Miami-Dade Program

  • Conducted 36 Club Meetings and 443 Presentations.  Serving over 37,000 students in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools for meetings and presentations even thought our Youth Crime Watch budget was cut. Distributed 38,000 pieces of crime prevention literature to the students, teachers, and school police.
  • Conducted the following presentations: Y.C.W. Orientations, Reporting Crimes, School Safety, School Violence, Bullying Prevention, Stranger Danger, Drug Prevention, Gun Prevention, Character Education, Personal Safety, Cyber-safety, Anger Management, Holiday Safety, McGruff the Crime Dog, and much more.
  • Participated in:  YCW Implementation Trainings, YCW Blue Ribbon Week, YCW Safety Day Events, YCW Assemblies, Crime Prevention Classroom Presentations, Violence Prevention Activities, Red Ribbon Week, Bullying Prevention Campaigns, YCW Carol City Parade, MDCPS Career Day Events, MDCPS F.C.A.T. Pep Rallies, , MDCPS Open House Resource Fairs, MDCPS P.T.A. Events, MDCPS Student Services’ Mini-Conference, MDCPS Student Services’ Meetings, MDCPS Principal Meetings, YCW Trainings for MDCPS School Resource Officers, MDCPS School Police Safety Events, Dr. Marta Perez’s Holiday Book Drive, Ana Rivas Logan’s “Be A Street Smart Family” Event, Safety Seminars, Back To School Community Events, Representative Yolly Roberson’s Back to School Event, MDCPS/Children’s Trust “Youth Violence Prevention” Summit, Health Connect In Our Schools’ Health Fairs, State of Florida’s Safety & Career Day, Miami-Dade College’s Public Safety Day, 5th Annual Youth Gang Summit, NBC6/Telemundo Health & Fitness Expo, Miami-Dade Public Libraries’ Safety Programs, Florida Marlins Youth & Community Campaign
