Organizing  A TELEPHONE CHAIN

After the first meeting with the police officer taken place, the Neighborhood Chairperson and he/her Block Captain should organize the "telephone Chain". That is the internal communication mechanism by which information is passed.
Each resident, for example, should have the home and office phone numbers of his/her immediate neighbors, and the number of his/her Block (or floor) Captain. They should know what number to call to report an emergency or a crime in progress (911) and the number to call to report lower priority incidents such as a suspicious car or person.

In the event of an emergency, the first call should be to the police, but thereafter the neighbors should, be informed about what is going on.
In a typical chain, the Neighborhood Chairperson would call their Block Captains; they in turn would call designated individuals on their block, and those individuals would cal neighbors.
SIGNAGE
Once organized, a neighborhood is eligible to purchase and display the large, yellow CITIZEN'S CRIME WATCH sign.
