 How to respond to TERRORISM

Your federal, state, and local law enforcement and government agencies are working hard daily to prevent terrorism in America. But there are some things that you can do:

Know the routines -
Be alert as you go about your daily business. This will help you to learn the normal routines of your neighborhood, community, and workplace. Understanding these routines will help you to sot anything out of place.
Be Aware -
Get to know your neighbors at home. Be on the lookout for suspicious activities such as unusual conduct in your neighborhood and workplace. learn to spot suspicious packages, luggage or mail abandoned in a crowded place like an office building, an airport, a school, or a shopping center.
Take what you hear seriously -
If you hear or know of someone who has bragged or talked about plans that harm citizens in violent attacks and who claims membership in a terrorist organization, take it seriously and report it to law enforcement immediately.

GENERAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Make a list of important local numbers -
Write down important numbers, such as non-emergency numbers for the police department, fire department and FBI field office. Keep them by the telephone and make copies for yourself and family to keep in wallets and purses.
Write down telephone numbers and contact information for your family -
Keep one copy by the telephone and provide others to family and friends.
Make a neighborhood directory and plan -
Include emergency contact information and plans for children and seniors. Identify neighbors who need additional help and develop a plan to assist them in an emergency.
Organize an emergency preparedness kit -

3 to 5 day supply of water (one gallon per person per day)
Food that will not spoil and requires no cooking
First aid kit & needed medical supplies
Emergency tools like a battery powered radio, cell phones, flashlights and extra batteries
Personal items like toilet paper & plastic garbage bags
A portable emergency generator, if possible.
